Myles Burgess (b. 1986, Sydney, Australia) is a Melbourne-based contemporary abstract painter working with acrylic, oil, household enamel and stains on canvas. His practice is defined by layered, gestural paintings that balance expressive mark-making with expansive fields of colour.

Myles explores personal narratives and the human condition, with a particular focus on identity, emotion, renewal and personal growth. His practice is marked by a tension between control and chaos, structure and surrender. Paintings evolve over extended periods through successive layers of deliberate and intuitive gestures, allowing earlier marks to be obscured, revealed or transformed. His recent body of work considers the possibility of integration when opposing forces are allowed to coexist.

Myles Burgess presented his first solo exhibition, Still Drifting, at Brunswick Street Gallery, Fitzroy, in 2025. He continues to develop and exhibit his work in Melbourne.
